Disaster Management Activities in Chennai District

According to Chapter VI of Tamil Nadu Disaster Management Plan 2016, the Commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation will be responsible for the overall Management of disaster in Chennai Corporation areas.

As per the Minutes of North East Monsoon 2017 Preparedness Meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary to Government on 22.09.2017,the entire responsibility for disaster mitigation will vest with the Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation. The District Collector will continue enumeration of loss of lives, damages to huts and Pucca houses for distribution of relief.
