Guideline for hostel admission.
  • Parental annual income should not exceed Rs.100,000/.
  • Distance limit of 8 kms. from residence (for Boy students)
  • No distance limit is prescribed for Girl students.
  • Degree and Polytechnic Students are admitted in College Hostels. Separate Hostels are maintained for Boys and
    Girls.
Application Forms

Printed application forms are available with the Wardens/Matrons of the respective Government hostels and District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officers in the districts. Students aspiring to get admission into the Government hostels can easily obtain the Admission forms and resubmit them to the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officers.

The Powers vested with Collector to admit additional boarders

The Collector has powers to admit additional boarders upto 20% over and above the sanctioned strength in respect of the needy hostels, where there is demand for admission by utilizing the unutilized seats in other hostels within the district, subject to the condition that the overall ceiling of the sanctioned strength of the district not exceed and that sufficient accommodation is available in the hostel.

MINORITIES COMMUNITIES – BOYS / GIRLS HOSTEL

There is one Minorities Community Girls Hostel functioning in respect of Chennai district. There are 9 Backward Class Hostels for College boys/Girls and 4 Most Backward class Hostels for college boys/girls and one Minority girls hostel are functioning in Chennai.

SUPPLY OF FREE BICYCLES TO STUDENTS STUDYING IN +1 AND +2 STANDARD

Bi-cycle are given free of cost to all students belonging to BC/MBC/DNC studying in XI and XII Standard in all Government/Government aided/Government Partly aided Schools. Chief Educational Officer, Chennai has requested to allot 16,968 Bi-cycles for the year 2017-2018 under free bi-cycle scheme.

MINORITIES WELFARE SCHEME

Scholarship Schemes sponsored by the Government of India under Pre-matric, Post-matric and Merit cum Means based Scholarship. This scheme is implemented by the Government of Tamil Nadu and fully funded by the Government of India. The students of Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhist and Parasigars who are pursuing their studies in schools, professional / Technical under graduate and Post Graduate Courses are eligible to apply for this scholarship at National Scholarship Portal.

Eligibility:
Pre-matric scholarship

Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination and annual income of their parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh

Post matric Scholarship

Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh.

Merit-cum-scholarship
CONDITIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP
  1. Financial assistance will be given to pursue graduate level or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution. Course fee and Maintenance allowance will be credited/transferred directly into the bank account of selected students.
  2. Students who get admission to a college to pursue technical/professional courses, on the basis of a competitive examination will be eligible for the scholarship.
  3. Students who get admission in technical/professional courses without taking any competitive examination will also be eligible for scholarship. However, such students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary/graduation level. Selection of these students will be done strictly on merit basis.
  4. Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful completion of the course during the preceding year.
  5. A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for pursuing the course.
  6. The annual income of the beneficiary/parent or guardian of beneficiary should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources.
  7. The Income Certificate would remain valid for One Year.
  8. The State Department will advertise the Scheme every year and receive the applications online through the concerned institutions as per the timeline.
  9. Aadhaar Number is also required for payment of scholarship.
  10. The concerned State Government/Union Territory Administration will be responsible for processing and scrutinizing the applications submitted by the students (as per the work flow opted) and send the proposal of eligible students online to this Ministry for sanction of the scholarships as per timelines.
  11. The online proposal for release of fund from the State Department must be forwarded to and received in the Ministry as per the timeline fixed by this Ministry every year.
  12. Fund for Administrative Expenses in subsequent year will be released after receipt of the Utilization Certificate for the fund released in the previous year.
