Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare

In Chennai District, 2 Higher Secondary Schools, 3 High School, 5 Primary and 1 Government Tribal Residential Schools are functioning. All Schools are functioning in Government Building and all Basic Amenities are available sufficiently.

In 2015-2016 Rs.20 lakhs, and 2016-17 Rs.13.59 lakhs, 2017-18 Rs.10.13 lakhs has been spent for repair works through Adidravidar Department.

There are 1098 boys and 1043 Girls studying in these schools.Free Textbooks, two sets Notebooks and four sets of uniforms are supplied to the students every year.

Hostel

There are 22 Adi Dravidar Welfare hostels in Chennai District functioning under the control of Adi Dravidar Welfare Department.

There are 2459 students staying in these Hostels.

Two sets of uniforms are supplied to the students of the schools hostel. Special guides and Question bank,books are supplied to the students studying in X and XII standard in our schools and hostels.

Hostel inspection

To strengthen and improve the condition of the hostels, the regular periodical inspection in AdiDravidar & Tribal Welfare hostels are undertaken.

Repairs and Maintenance of Hostels

As per G.O ms. No. 15 Adidravidar and Tribal Welfare Department (ADW 2) Dt.15.03.2017 Rs.13.59 lakhs was allotted to Chennai District for 10 hostel towards repairs and maintenance. As per G.O. Ms.no.7 ADTW Dept (ADW2) Rs.37.60 lakhs was sanctioned to Chennai districts (8 hostels) to wards repairs and maintenance of Hostels.

Hostel Admission

As per G.O.79 Adidravidar and Tribal Welfare Department Dt.13.08.2012. 85% SC, 10% BC, 5% Oc Students are admitted in the hostels. Hostel Students seeking for hostel admission are selected by Hostel committee members. Annual Income of the family should be within 2 lakhs.

Following documents have to be attached to the hostel forms

  1. Community Certificate.
  2. Aadhar card.
  3. Ration Card.
  4. bonafide Certificate.
  5. Bank Account details.

Scholarships and Concessions

SC/ST Girls Studying from III std to V std are given Rs.500/-,for VI std are given Rs.1000/-,and 7th & 8th std are given Rs.1500/-per year,as incentives in Chennai district.

During the year 2017-18 Rs.1599.106 lakhs has been sanctioned as a scholarship to 39111 students in Chennai district. For the year 2017-18 Rs.1613.97 lakhs is allotted for this scheme for Chennai district.

Post metric and pre metric scholarship are sanctioned through on line. The particulars of the Students are entered by the Headmaster/College Principal and submitted to District ADW Office through Online and hard copies.The particulars of the Students are scrutinised with the application of Students and forwarded to Directorate of Adi dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department, thus making ECS payment directly to their Account.
